China convoy trucks and jeeps serviced in Myitkyina. U.S. weapons carriers and jeeps, part of the first China-bound convoy, are serviced by their American and Chinese soldier-drivers during a stop in Myitkyina on the Ledo Road. On January 28, 1945, the convoy, rolling along the Burma Road, reached Wanting on the China border just a few days after the Japanese had been driven from the area. The new Ledo-Burma Road supply line to China will be used strictly as a militaray route for Chcinese and U.S. Army forces, which up to now have had to rely solely on air transport for almost three years.
